Here’s another math resource for you to use this winter – some snow globe missing number mats.
Your little learners will need to choose a mat then select the correct card and place it on the missing number. There’s also a mat for them to practice ordering the numbers 1-5 on as well.
And if you want to take the learning to the next level you could always get them to explain their reasoning behind why they think that three must come next, for example, ‘the mat is counting in ones and I know that when I count in ones, three comes after two and before four’. Getting your children to articulate their thought process can really help to solidify their learning!

When using these missing number mats, your children will have the chance to practice and develop some early math skills such as:
- Number recognition – the ability to recognize a number in its written form
- Number sequencing – the ability to understand the sequence of numbers, and be able to put them in the correct order
- Fine motor skills – as they move the cards into the correct places
How To Prepare These Snow Globe Missing Number Mats
This one’s pretty straight forward!
First you’re going to want to download the pack by clicking on the download button at the bottom of the page.

Once you’ve downloaded it, you’ll need to print it off onto paper or card and cut out the mats and the cards.
Then it would probably be a good idea to laminate them to keep them nice.
There’s a missing number mat for each number from 1-5 and a card for each number as well.
I’ve made these as rectangular cards so they can be quickly cut out – but if you have a little more time, you could always cut around the actual snow globes instead.
There’s also a blank mat in the pack. This would be great to use for them to order all the numbers. Or you could mix some up and see if they could put them back in the right order.
After that you’re all done!
Your children are ready to practice their number ordering skills from 1-5.
