What Skills Can Your Little Ones Learn And Develop?
This construction themed counting game is designed to help your children practice and develop their early math skills, such as:
- Number sense – the ability to visualize numbers and understand relationships between numbers
- One to one correspondence – this important skill (trickier than you may think) is the ability to only touch and count an object of a set once.
- Number recognition – understanding what the written numeral looks like and being able to tell them apart from other numbers
- Hand-eye coordination – to be able to understand what they are seeing and get their hands to go where they want them to go
How To Prepare This Number Sense Math Center Activity

There’s a fair bit to cut out but it’ll be worth it!
There’s the base truck; the numerals 1-10 on the truck windows; and a set of 5 crates for each number.
You may also find these number sense flashcards useful, to have next to them as they play this game or to help reinforce the skills before and after.
Once it’s all cut out, you’ll likely want to laminate the pieces to keep them nice and so you can reuse the activity.
Then all your little ones have to do is place a number on the window and load the 5 matching crates onto the back of that dump truck!
